Kitchen Bench Makeover

I am posting my 400th post today about my kitchen bench makeover that I had done last week. Now my kitchen is nothing to write home about but I have worked with what I had. I liked the shape of my existing bench tops as they had the rolled corners which I much prefer for smaller children. However when I obtained a few quotes to have the bench tops replaced like everything in life it was going to be expensive. I did a bit of calling around and found this company here on the Gold Coast that sprays your existing bench tops. I was very sceptical at first but after speaking to the owner of the company and seeing some before and after shots of other work he had done I was blown away. So here you have it, my old blue bench tops were transformed in one day.
They have been sprayed in a white marine style paint with a grey fleck, made to look like a sandstone effect. He used a sealer over the top which makes the benches hard as nails. The company specialise in painting existing kitchens, bathroom and laundry tiles and they can update your shower bases and baths.  The painter started at 8am and by 4pm that day he was all done. There was no need to remove the tops for spraying he did it all on-site and basically set the kitchen up as his very own spray booth. The smell was quite strong after so we did go out for dinner that night which was a good excuse not to cook.  I just wish they could spray floor tiles but unfortunately they don’t. That’s another makeover that is hopefully going to happen here in the New Year.
I could not believe the difference and after 48 hours the bench tops were ready for use.
I did consider for a few minutes anyway painting the benchtops myself but thought this would be much better & quicker left to the professionals. Plus I knew it would have a warranty and if there were any problems the company would come back.
This is the before shot of the kitchen when we first purchased the house almost 12 months ago. I painted all the kitchen cupboards and tiles myself.

Sandy, They look fabulous. I have painted tiles and even countertops too with just a standard roller when they were too awful to live with. They were okay and never peeled or chipped but I was pretty careful with them. However, it sounds like yours are a whole lot better for being done by a specialist. They look absolutely wonderful Don't you wonder who ever picked that blue color in the first place? Okay I guess if you like Blue!

You are getting there-one step at a time. It must feel like walking into a new kitchen with that done! Hugs-Diana

Ok Sandy it's time to comment. I LOVE everything you touch, everything 🙂
    Your home is extraordinaire.
    Your work is extraordinaire.
Your details are exquisite. If I didn't like pastels so much, I think my home would be white… but I have 6 dogs, white wouldn't be white for too long lol
    Have a great weekend.

What a transformation! The blue was awful – now it looks amazing. When we bought our house two years ago, the whole kitchen was painted baby blue. I just couldn't live with it, so that was the first thing we changed.
