I am no upholster but could not bear to look at this revolting fabric any longer on these beautiful chairs. Took the advice from Ange “Chair Up” and stripped all the chairs myself, thought this would save me some $$$ as its so time consuming. Was definetly not the easiest job but I was NOT going to let this get the better of me. Now I just have to remove the staples and they are ready to upholster. Oh before they get upholstered I am going to paint them white of course. Still can’t decide on fabric but its like buying a new home “when you see it you will know”.

Hi Sandy! The anticipation of how they will look when finished is a big part of the experience.
Watch out for your fingers when removing those staples, I sometimes end up with several band-aids covering the gouges!ouch.
    Thanks for the mention btw.

    Living It At Home

Hi Ann, Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving such inspirational comments. When I read comments like yours, I feel like I can keep going with my decorating.

I think you are very brave to tackle your dinning chairs. I too have 100yr old chairs that I got on e-bay that I would like to re-upholster myself. I actually just took one apart. It looks doable but not sure of fabric. It sounds crazy but I love burlap. I was thinking of doing the chairs in that fabric.

Love your blog, it reminds me of everything sunny, light, airy, and being at the beach. You are doing a great job.
    Your kids are beautiful too!

Hope you are enjoying this beautiful fall season. I am~love it.
