French Settee

This settee was originally my sisters and she no longer wanted it. So I put it on my blog and ended up selling the two matching chairs which left me with the settee. I just couldn't bring myself to sell it and have decided to keep it. Then by accident I stumbled upon these two chairs that just happended to match the settee. So I now have the full three piece back again. I just dont think I was meant to part with it.
So now I need to decide what to do with them.
The pink velvet is immaculate but I can just picture this beauty painted and  re-upholstered in some gorgeous linen. The timber is quite dark and would look perfect painted white.
It's actually a very comfortable settee and is going to be perfect at the end of my bed.

Tilly thinks its a great spot to chill out.

I just love it when you have visions for a piece and can picture it all done. This one is going to be a keeper for sure.

HI Sandy, it's beautiful! Infact I have one just like it, or very similar anyway. I am keeping it too but it's still waiting on it's makeover as it has very worn out green velvet on it. Mine will be going in my lounge room eventually. Can't wait to see what you do to yours. I'm going to recover mine in a linen but can't decide whether to paint the timber bits or leave as is! Decisions! I can't believe you sold the armchairs and then ended up finding another 2, how lucky(freaky) is that! YOu're meant to have the set. take care, Maryann

That's a beautiful settee....I can't imagine how difficult it would be to paint the wood trim on it, though. Sounds like you were meant to have it!~Hugs, Patti

Hi Sandy, my mum used to have the couch and the two chairs, I have kept two smaller chairs that also go with this set, that I have been meaning to have re-covered.

Those are great pieces! I love how ornate they are. I have been looking for a settee for awhile and haven't found anything like this. I agree - it would look great re-upholstered in linen and the wood painted white. Can't wait to see what you do!

How lovely! I have ended up selling so many pieces in my antique booth or at a show that I just wish I hadn't. Sometimes it's so hard to let go of things. Many times I use them in my own home for awhile, and then sell them after I have had the chance to enjoy them. I still regret the most wonderful 1880's baby carriage lined in blue velvet. I could imagine it next to the Christmas tree filled to the rim with beautifully wrapped packages.

What an enormous coincidence on the Decorating Forum this week a member picked up on the side of the road very similar chairs. She showed a picture of them painted white and with white upholstery. It looked stunning. If you would like to a link to see the picture feel free to email me:).

My partner and I really enjoyed reading this blog post, I was just itching to know do you trade featured posts? I am always trying to find someone to make trades with and merely thought I would ask.

With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My blog has a lot of special content I've either written myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it really is popping it up all over the internet with out my agreement. Do you know any approaches to support prevent content from becoming stolen? I'd seriously appreciate it.
