For the love of Chenille

Some of my collection. Images courtesy of other sources.

Chenille has been around for years and I would never pass up a beautiful bedspread on my thrifting travels I would make them into lovely cushion covers, raggy quilts and even slipcovers. They are very versatile and the best part is they wash and wear better over time. I would have to say that I have picked the best ones up in Victoria. I think the climate is more suited to them in colder states and I always seem to find one wherever I went. Can’t say that now and many chenille bedspreads I have seen are well over the $200. I have kept mine for years and always seem to find a purpose for them. They are even great as throws over the couch.

Oh I love chenille too Sandy, brings back such happy memories from my childhood! I found a double chenille plain bedspread in my treasure hunting whilst I was away for $5 but left it as it was a cream/yellow/apricot colour – just couldn't think of what it would go with… Love your images, especially the chenille slipcover:)- Tina x

    Hi Sandy,
It's funny how my taste has changed over the years, when I was younger you couldn't have paid me to have anything in chenile but now I am on the hunt to find anything that is in good enough condition to take home!!!
