Paint Me White

With January almost gone its hard to believe that this time next week the kids will be back at school.
It's been a busy January with lots of restocking and time for a getaway.
My poor old blog has been a little forgotten but its all happening here at paint Me White with exciting times ahead.

Roses from the garden.

A North Queensland getaway.

Some fun in the sun.

Lots of bike riding.

Hope your enjoying your summer break.

Miss Mustard Seeds Milk Paint Dresser (1)

Happy New Year

I was lucky to receive some of Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint over the Christmas break courtesy of Mike and Laurie from redposie.com. I also won a second box from (thankyou) Fiona over at lilyfieldlife.com
This particular milk paint is not available in Australia but Mike is happy to help you out with ordering and shipping.
Mike sent me some "Kitchen Scale" milk paint and I could not wait to test it out on this cute vintage dresser.
I have used milk paint in the past so kinda knew what to expect however I can see why this paint would be intimidating to some. You just have to go with it and let the milk paint do its thing.  Miss Mustard Seed has a great video tutorial on how to apply it which I would recommend watching before using.
The paint comes in a powder form and you add water to make a pancake consistency.
The paint for me was quite easy to apply and once sanded with a fine sand paper and waxed  the end result is a gorgeous silk finish.

With no undercoating necessary the milk paint can be applied straight onto your furniture (love that). It does have a mind of its own and does chip and peel basically where it wants too. For me this look is what I wanted to achieve however if your after minimal distressing and more clean lines I would suggest either adding the bonding agent available or water the paint down more.

The top of this dresser is gorgeous silky oak so I have simply just re-stained and waxed it.

This dresser is now available at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre - Paint Me White.
I will show the second dresser painted in milk paint in another post this week

Thankyou redposie and Fiona I thoroughly enjoyed using this paint.
