Porthole Mirror

It's not very often I find porthole style mirrors and they make a great statement in any room.

This one is quite large and just needed a few coats of white paint to cover up the original gold colour.

Gorgeous blue ceramic eggs.

And loads of vintage bottles.

Table Makeover & Some Birthday Snaps

Thank-you all for the lovely birthday wishes. Turning 40 is one of those things that you either embrace or tend not to tell people. I guess to me its just a number and as the saying goes your only as old as you feel. Some days we all feel older but the important thing is "to have a dream". My dream is to create beautiful furniture. 

I have just completed a drop leaf timber table for a client that was looking for a table to have on hand when extra guests arrive for dinner. The drop side table seemed appropriate and functional given that it takes up less space once the sides are folded down. 

The trick was getting the top to resemble a Hamptons Style table.

The base of the table was painted in an off white and the top completely sanded and re-stained.

You would never know it was the same table.

Cupboard Makeover

I have been getting stuck into the painting this week which is nothing that new I guess. I quickly bought this little cupboard up from the house to show you before it got taken to the store. 

Painted a snow white with grey beading its a little cutie to put anywhere in the home.
Today is my 40th birthday so I plan to put tools down and enjoy the day. I also had great fun meeting Karen from Restyled Vintage yesterday who flew over to Australia from NZ for her 40th birthday too.
Can't believe that big number came around so quickly - goes to show that life does go way too quick.  

These are my miniature pom poms that I have been making all night for a special order. I have never made them as small only 10cm but how gorgeous are they.   They look like a peonie dont you think?

French Drawers

These drawers are now available in my store at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre. I did the makeover a few weeks ago now but the thought of parting with them was a bit hard. I really wanted to do something fun and out of the ordinary with them. I had been inspired by another makeover in blogland where they had incorporated french lettering on the drawers so I thought I would attempt a Paris Flower Market theme myself. Not convinced that they are exactly what I had in mind if only I could master beautiful french lettering. But never the less I think they are pretty cool and will stand out from the crowd.
