I picked up this gorgeous old pine kitchen hutch last week and have briefly contemplated painting it white. But when I dress it all up with some white ironstone & china I kinda like it just as it is. I think this piece will stay here for sometime until the next new piece comes along.
I kinda think this is one of those pieces that just has to be left as is.
Would you agree?
My ironstone torene was given to me as a going away gift by a Hotel I worked at before we were married some 18 years ago. The kids just recently broke the ladle so I am on the lookout for a replacement.
Hope your all enjoying your weekend whatever it is your doing.

What a lovely piece, it looks stunning with the white pieces in it. I paint everything white that I can get my hands on, but I have one sideboard in my lounge that I have left. Enjoy your weekend.
You made the right choice Sandy..It's perfect just as it is..xx
That's a hard one. But i do agree it is good to have some pieces left as is. This one has such a nice warm colour.xx Katherine
I'm glad you're leaving it as is because my first thought was "OMG she's gonna paint it"... lol
i like it as is..it's a nice light colour!
Hi Sandy, its very , very gorgeous.. I do like it as it is, but I cant help wondering what it would look like in black... or a distressed teal.. Even then, i still dont think i could choose!

Brava è troppo bello così!
Hello,
I she your blog via via, and everthing looks so nice. I will follow you. I had som friends in australie, and i live in the Netherlands. Maybe you can take a look at my blog. My English is not so good, but i hope you can understand me.
Greet from me Petra.
Nice find Sandy, I agree it looks lovely as is especially with all of your white china. ;-)
Sandy, you made the right choice for sure - please don't paint it. I love it like that with the white ceramic ware. Some character rich timber always helps warm a room and adds extra dimension, texture and charm. Love it as is!
What a lovely piece ~ I love the cabinet locks on it. ;-)
oh such a beautiful piece. I've been looking for something similar for ages now. Perth is hopeless when it comes to second hand finds *sigh*
cheers
Maja
The hutch is lovely, the ironstone really show well against the color.
That's a really great piece and I love how the white ware really shows up on the wood. So glad I found your blog today ~ it's lovely and I'm a new follower. Hope you're having a fabulous weekend.
wonderful piece..I love it the way it is. Have a great weekend!
I like it just as it is too.
Have a lovely weekend! :-)
I like the Natural Pine, but I would think about painting the very back Black to make everything Pop. If you don't want to paint it pull the back off and staple black fabric across the back and re-attach the wood back to cover the fabric edges and staples.
Love it! That piece looks wonderful as is. I've been searching for one like it here, but the few I found were way pricey.
The pine finish is a soft finish , I like it with the white ironstone in it .
I say 'paint it' and it will highlight the great lines even more. The backboard would look great in a pastel against white.I'm itching to paint something pale creamy yellow....
Hi Sandy,
I think it's perfect just the way it is. Love the ironstone.
hugs

A gorgeous piece Sandy. I love it as it is, and the white ironstone is the icing on the cake. Im sure it'll get a coat of paint eventually, but either way its gorgeous. Enjoy your Sunday.

Hi Sandy,
I think you have made the right choice with this piece. It is so beautiful the way it is. I have a similar hutch and I haven't the heart to paint it either. You have filled it up beautifully too.
hugs
Sandy,
What a piece to love! I would have to distress it in whites and majorly add gray to it aging it with haunting beauty.
Love the long doors on it, a wow piece and I am sure you will pull off the statement it deserves to tell.
Look at the piece carefully letting it! tell you what it wamts to be.

Every once in a while, you find a lovely piece of furniture that is gorgeous as-is, and while said piece would look nice painted (any color), its natural state is sheer perfection.
This is one of those times! I am really glad you are not going to paint this piece, it is in such lovely condition, and personally I would be hard pressed to take a brush to it. I think a real wood finish, when it is a nice as this one, really makes the painted pieces around the house stand out even more. Sometimes, we just have to honor the integrity of good wood!
Best,
Kimberly

I think that sometimes natural is the color that pops!!
I can't believe I'm saying this because I love white so much but this one neeeds to be left alone!
I agree with you - the natural with the white makes the white look even more special - lovely
I love the lines of the hutch.....I would definately paint the cabinet white but I would paint the inside an light ocean aqua color to offset your white iron stone collection.

Natural looks fab, you can play with the inside with paint instead... Love your blog.. Wish you did this full time.. May just have a way to persuade you soon x
I would totally paint it.
Looks great as is! Love the contrast of the wood with the lovely white irontsone.
Kim:)
hi sandy thanks for such a great blog. we are coming to the gold coast for a holiday soon cn you recomend some second hand shops or places to snoop around for bargains please.my computer wouldnt allow me to email you for some reason.thanks judy
Love your blog !
Greetings from Mette in Norway
maybe wax it with some tinted wax...turns out beautifu...don’t paint it...it’s beautiful the way it is.
Yes, its a lovely contrast!
Normally I'd say PAINT IT, but it looks divine with the white crockery in it. I have an old tureen with a lid and I reckon it would look great in that!
