Tea Trolley

I was given this gorgeous tea trolley which was very neglected and in need of repairs. My husband had to nail back on all the timber panels and the detailed side rails were removed as some of them were already missing. I could appreciate that someone had gone to a lot of effort here sanding the piece and getting it back to its natural timber. I thought painting it would not only be very time consuming but the timber itself was in such good condition that I opted to keep it in its original state.
So with the repairs all done and some filling and sanding I decided to just go over it with some Danish Oil. I didn’t go overboard on the oil just a bit of a hit and miss and I am thrilled with the final look.
The timber panels were lovely and wide and reminded me of old floor boards.
I have two other pieces that were given to me these last couple of weeks which I can’t wait to share with you.  One is a divine wardrobe that the owner had in her family for almost 100 years, she was moving and no longer had the room for it.
The other piece was something that had been on my wish list and that was a round oak mirror.

    Hi Sandy,

I agree with you, not painting the tea trolley…I think the raw wood has such character in itself and you would lose that by painting it!

It's such a beautiful piece…some pieces are just meant to stay as is!

    Lots of love,
    Mandi
