It's hard to believe that tomorrow will be the 1st January. I want to wish the blogging world all the very best for 2011 and may it bring you all great happiness.

I will continue to bring you my furniture makeovers and I can sense lots of exciting new changes for me in 2011.

Shelf Makeover

The sun actually came out today and so did my paint brush. I picked up a gorgeous find just before Christmas which I am currently working on and cannot wait to show you all real soon. For now you will have to settle for this cute little shelf.  Handy little pieces like this can be used anywhere in the home. I have painted this in a lovely blue and destressed for a beachy look.

Slipcover Chair attempt

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day and are well and truly in relaxation mode.  It's still raining here in Queensland and from memory it hasn't really stopped pouring since Christmas Eve. Not much you can do outdoors so this wet weather has inspired me to tackle somthing that I really haven't done before. I mean I have covered an ottoman here there but not a full blown slipcover. This was going to be on my to do list for 2011 but it has come early.

I have simply used a linen table cloth for my fabric. If I was using a new fabric I would pre-wash to avoid shrinkage.  I have basically pinned it all to the existing chair, cut and sewn. I would not say this is a professional job at all but for my first attempt I would say its a lot better looking now than the before. I completed this in about 2 hours and cost me $5 for the table cloth which was a thrift store find. 

Slipcovers can work out expensive so if your handy with a sewing machine I recommend giving it a go yourself.

Some last minute roses

I have finished work for the year and are looking forward to spending some time with the family and pottering around the house. I cut back my roses recently but they are still producing some beautiful blooms which I had to display here for Christmas. I have done the last minute shopping and even caught up with a special friend for coffee. I love the build up to Christmas, everyone is excited and we are looking forward to santa's visit later this afternoon. He arrives in the local fire truck, lollies for the kids and a chance for the neighbours to get together. Hope the rain holds off.

Some how I think I will be posting over Christmas just can't help myself and always have something to share with you all.

Christmas Decorating

I am still working right up until Christmas which is probably a good thing as the shops are crazy and the roads are busy. I forgot that I hadn't posted a pick of our white Christmas tree and a few of my Christmas decorations.  I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and thankyou all for your lovely comments on this blog throughout the year. I look forward to 2011 with lots of exciting furniture makeovers and I hope to continue inspiring you all to makeover your home and your furniture. Sandy xx

A Vintage side table setting

I set up an afternoon tea setting on the weekend and made good use of my vintage china. Love mismatched table ware, crystal champagne glasses and of course lots of vintage lace.
