Time for some Colour

I have been mentioning on my blog lately how some things are just not meant to be painted white. Don't get me wrong I would paint everything white if I had the chance but sometimes you need some colour in your life.
Thes cute tables were screaming out for some bright beachy colours so I did the larger table in this blue colour and the smaller one in a lovely pink. I can just picture these being used as a childs play or eating table. I am working on a matching wardrobe to go with these.

Linen Grain Sack Pillow

Another grain sack knock off - I whipped up on Sunday afternoon. This time I made it large enough it fit a normal bed pillow in. Think I will have to make a matching one now.
I love dragging the sewing machine out makes a nice change from the paint brush.

I have the airconditionier on today and as I drove down the street for some bits & pieces there were people swimming in the local Coomera River. Must be a sign that the weather is on the improve.

Spindle Back Chair Makeover

This is where my blog name might have to be changed to paintmeblack. White was just not going to happen on these beauties, all along I could picture them painted black. Funny how you just know and can picture them paintd a certain colour. Other times I have to ponder for a few weeks until I know what colour to paint certain pieces but this time it was cystal clear from the start.
I purchased six of these spindle back chairs with a large matching table but I haven't got around to doing the table yet. Thought I would team them up with a market find table that I already had. This setting looks very country and rustic the total opposite from my whites but fits in just perfect no matter what style.

Linen table runner made by me.

Some Mid Week Turquoise Finds

I was back to my Friday morning thrifting and what fun I had. I don't have a lot of turquoise around my home but yesterday for some reason I was drawn to this colour. Picked up these sweet vases for next to nothing and placed my Royal Highness rose in it. My roses are going crazy and I have blooms everywhere. I only planted a few was a test really to see how they grew and what the soil was like at our new place. They are thriving and I cannot wait till the time is right to plant some more.
The depression glass jewelery box I already had. But can you believe that one of my tenants was flying back to N.Z yesterday and she didn't want to take the alcohol with her so she gave it to me. I wanted the bottle not the alcohol of course. Mind you I poured a glass of the gin last night and I quite enjoyed it.
I also manged some nice furniture finds which I will post about later. The weather here is that dull I hope the sun is shining where ever you are.

Office Chair Find/Back to the fun stuff

A few weeks ago when I was at a market I spied this office chair for $5. I have been on the look out for one of these for ages but its not something that you come across too often. Mind you the market was quite disappointing and this was the only piece I got all morning - not that I am complaining. Think the salmon colour leather fabric will have to go was thinking of some bright oilcloth or even a white leather.

An Emotional Week

I want to dedicate this post to my husband Tim. Usually its always about the furniture but today I want to say that this week I almost lost my husband to a terrible workplace accident. Tim works as a Green keeper and somehow ended up face down in a dam with an Industrial mower on his back. I thank god his workmates saw the accident and after a couple of minutes dragged Tim out of the water. After a couple of days in intensive care I now have my husband home. What a week - the thought of losing your husband is something that I will never forget. We have been married 16 years and not only is he my husband but my best friend as well Cornie but true.  So this week I have learnt that life is all about living - what a gift. Hope your all having a great weekend. I will be back with some furniture makeovers soon.

Bedroom Parlour Chair

This is what you can do with a $8 thrift store find, a made in Italy bedspread that was given to me and a fantastic Upholsterer.

If anyone lives near the Gold Coast and is looking for a good Upholsterer I can highly recommend Ange from
Ange is one very talented lady who works from home. If your in the market to have some chairs or lounge suits made over I suggest you contact Ange.
I think the chair might need some castor's to complete the look.

I cannot believe how comfortable this little beauty is. I have enough fabric left over to make a matching lamp shade.

Before (gee what a shocker)
