Coffee Table Re-Vamp

We had a show day holiday here last Friday so with the help of my husband we set out and picked up some great pieces. I will be working on these over the next few weeks so be sure to check back in to see their transformations.  I must say that out of all the pieces I did pick up this table was one that proved to be a little challenging. I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous inlaid pattern on top of this table. It was very badly scratched and I did ponder over what to do with it.

So I painted the base in white of course and then I sanded the top quite heavily. I was worried that the gorgeous pattern might disappear with all the sanding but it was there to stay. So with all the sanding done it looked a whole lot better.

I then applied a walnut stain to the top and once that had dried I slightly white washed it. I am pleased with the overall look as it would have been ashame to have painted over that lovely table top.

Completed TV Cabinet

Well I think everyone agreed that the family TV is very hard to hide and very hard to display nicely.  Unless you have a gorgeous armoire that you can tuck it away in.

My husband bought this cabinet a few years ago and it was really the only piece in the house that was left to paint. I hope you all agree that it looks so much nicer and fits in with everything now that its white.

We took out the glass and I made some gorgeous linen curtains and hung them inside with some elastic curtain wire.  All those DVD's and videos are all out of sight now which is a lot tidier and pleasing to the eye.

I painted all the shelves inside white and used a small roller for the hard to get places. I left the top timber as thought this gave it a nice country feel.

Added some lovely crystal knobs and it was all done today. I am so pleased and yes I do wish I had done it sooner.

Yep painted it inside, was way too big to take outside and my husband didn't want to dismantle all the electrical so I painted it during the week and an hour or two at night.  

A Free Desk

When my daughter came home from a friend place on the weekend she said the words "free desk" and I think you might like it mum.  

Well you know me I was in the van in a flash and had this little cutie home in no time at all. They were going to dump this at the tip that afternoon to make way for a more modern desk. This desk has history to the family and she was going to dump it!!!!

How cute is the little bookshelf on the side. Lots of great shelving here.

Already a great colour I don't even think I will bother with a coat of paint. Maybe a hardware change?

My House Today

Gotta love the weekends no school, no work just a lazy morning at home.
Thought I would share a few images of my lounge room. In the right hand corner is a very large plasma on a very large cabinet. This was the one thing my husband had to have the big tv thing which I'm sure all you girls can relate too. We get our way with the house on so many things so the TV is kinda the bloke thing. I never photograh that corner as the cabinet is probably the only piece in the house that has not been painted white. This is my next big painting job and I can't wait to get stuck into it. Think I will be painting it in the lounge room now thats going to be interesting.

One For The Boys

I think sometimes its hard decorating for boys - so this cutie is for all you young boys. Sweet little desk with matching stool all ready for a young mans bedroom.
Painted in the palest shade of blue with a lovely scollaped cast iron drawer pull.
No roses out yet so thought some twigs were a little more masculine.

Another Half Table

I just love these half tables and this one I picked up from my friend Mel through the week. It needed a good paint and has gone from a cream to a crisp white.

Oh so glad its Friday

I photographed this table in my spare room. Can't get in here too often as its where I store a lot of my finished pieces. When we bought the house the walls were already this colour in here and I must say all my white pieces seem to pop against this colour.

WhatNot

These little whatnots are very handy pieces to have around the house for all your china and bits and pieces. After I started painting this I thought I was mad as it took ages to get into those tight corners and paint all that turned timber. But I persevered and was so glad that I did.  Worst part is I bought another smaller one so will have to tackle that as well.

The gorgeous bedroom chair was a market find from last week.
