Friday flowers

My neighbours are away are her roses were calling out to picked this afternoon - lucky me. Thanks for all your lovely comments this week. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend. We have a holiday on Monday so that means an extra sleep in and more painting no doubt.

I did some friday thrifting today and got some great goodies can't wait to show you them all once they are painted.

Line & Lace Slipcover

I made this linen and lace slipcover the other week but finally got to finish it off yesterday with a lovely lace trim. I am a self taught sewer although I can thank my mother in law for some basic sewing lessons. Love how it can be thrown in the wash as no doubt between the dog & the kids it will require lots of washing. Don't ask me how I did it I think it was by accident that it all turned out.

Desk & Mirror Make-Over

Thanks for all your lovely comments on my finished drawers. Now to answer some of your questions. I don't use a spray gun, I did once many years ago (I borrowed a friends) for painting outdoor furniture and did think this week that I should go and purchase my own. But I'm the kinda girl that goes out to my shed and paints for an hour then goes back inside and does a load of washing and then pops back to the shed to paint another piece sometimes in many different colour. So to me using a spray gun would just involve lots of cleaning and maybe too much mucking around for my liking. I would imagine the best use for a spray gun would be to undercoat half a dozen pieces and then maybe line then all up and use the spray gun then. For now I am sticking to my trusty paint brush.

Before painting I try and remove all hardware first. Even the mirror I take the back board off and the mirror out for a much easier paint job.

This was a cute cheval mirror that was a bit smaller than the average one so I thought it would be perfect painted in a pale pink for a little girl's room.

This desk was already white but the top was in bad shape with lots of glue and stains, with a bit of hard work and some crystal knobs it has come up lovely.

Weekend Drawer Makeover

I took a few hours off work yesterday as I needed a thrifting fix. Was not disappointed as came home with quite a few lovely pieces. These drawers were in great shape just needed the white paint treatment.

Market Finds

Here are a few pictures of some finds from last weekend. The vintage laundry trolley & basket is just gorgeous and is going to look lovely sitting in my laundry.

Large timber serving tray, won't be painting this piece as love it as is.

Monday's Flowers

Hope you all had a lovely weekend - I did manage some finds at the market so will photograph those later in the week. But thought I would post a picture of these gorgeous roses courtesy of my neighbours rose garden. I was inspired to plant my own on the weekend but it will be sometime before they produce beautiful blooms like these. So in the meantime I will keep picking the ones over the fence.

Did manage to paint this sweet table in the french grey.

Finished Table & Stool

Thankyou so much for all your lovely comments on my finished pieces. I guess thats what keeps me going - all you wonderful people out there in blogland having the same passion and appreciation for beautiful things.

This beautiful table with drop down sides was from that garage sale recently. I painted the legs white and stained the top as the timber was just so beautiful.

This tool box is huge and as soon as I saw it sitting in the junk shop I knew it would make a great piece for the table. Can't wait to fill it with beautiful flowers - for now the pom poms will have to do.

Off to plant some bare rooted roses!!!! have a great weekend and I hope you all make it to a market with lots of great finds.

More Finished Pieces

When painting mirrors its a good idea if you can to remove the whole mirror from the frame. If you can't, make sure you tape it up well and I lay newspaper over the mirror to avoid paint spills. This mirror was tricky and quite a big job as lots of scrolly flowers but the end result is stunning. was going to do the french grey underneath but once I applied the white undercoat the white just did it for me. I have over sanded and destressed it so it does look old and chippy.

Just need to have a chain put on the back and its all ready for a wall somewhere.

Hope I'm not boring you all with these finished projects but as soon as I saw this cute cabinet I knew it woud come up lovely. The flowers on the doors have been all sanded back to show the detail.

I will get to the french grey eventually and hope to finish some pieces this week to show you all.

Little Cupboard Makeover

I posted a picture of this cupboard the other day but I still wasn't quite happy with it. I got my handy husband to insert some pine lining boards within the front panel to finish it off. I am so happy with the way it turned out.
