Day Trip Getaway
We spent the day at a beautiful spot on the NSW coast today called Brunswick Heads. My sister and her husband were already there with the caravan so we thought we would head on down and have some swimming and fishing time. The local prawns were beautiful and the weather was even better. I did check out a few of the local homeware stores but no goodies to show this time. I think I have been bitten by the caravan park getaway bug its quite the relaxing Ausralian lifestyle. I'm no camper but a nice van would be perfect - Oh one with its own shower please.
My daughter is quite the fisherman.

Lamp Shade
You know that fabric I showed you yesterday well here is the almost finished lamp shade. Just have to add some braid & trim and we are all done. Can't believe I am re-covering lamps in this modern pattern - such a nice change. Thanks for all your comments on my brass vintage bowl you have all convinced me to leave it alone and appreciate its current look. Now back to my painting.

Friday Finds
I came across this lovely bowl today that is made in Italy. I dont know if its brass or even silver under all that tarnish but can't wait to clean it up and find out. It's quote large and has the most beautiful pattern in the centre. Can anyone recommend a product to clean it with? brasso maybe?
Also got these gorgeous silver candle holders and rose bowl. See that trellis fanric at the front I am going to cover a lamp shade in this tonight and see what it comes up like. I have lots of pieces lined up to paint so hoping this weekend will be a productive one.

I have never been one to decorate with black but I am finding more & more pieces sneaking into my home. Will they stay that colour I am not sure but for now I am quite liking it.

Weekend Market Finds
Well I made it to the markets this morning with no rain in sight it was a beautiful day. Scored big time and was so pleased with my purchases. I was out of practice and didn't know where to start. I'm a cheap scape and apart from bed linen and clothes I possibly buy nothing new - all my items in my home are second hand market finds. I love the thrill of a find and the excitement that goes with it. Doing the happy dance (on the inside) when you find that piece thats on your wanted list and the joy on my face when the stall holders tell you $5 for everything.
These cute drink coaster are made from glass with croched covers on them. I also picked up this silver heart box which is lined inside with pink velvet.
This rug I also got today for a bargain considering I was going to buy a new one - I saved big time there.
This two tiered wrought iron stand was on my wanted list. I sold a lovely white one years ago and regretted it ever since so this was a nice surprise for $6.
Turned timber shelf. This was a piece I just loved as its narrow and can fit in a hallway or a bathroom will be nice white. You can never have enough baksets and this will be lovely filled with goodies in the bathroom.

Bathroom Halfway There
I didn't think I would get this far today but its amazing how much you can get done when you have a day to yourself. I started painting early and by lunch time I had the second coat on. Painted all the bathroom walls in Antique White USA and the vanity paint well thats was a find left here from the previous owner. Don't know whats its called all I can tell you is that its more grey than blue and cost me nothing so even better. Actually the whole small reno cost me nothing it was all things that I already had and makes a big improvement to what it was. Think it turned out a tad more shabby than french and think by the weekend it will be different again.
Did you notice that I painted the tile border around the top of the vanity. I also used the same handles that were originally on there.
