My hunger for a find did not disappoint and yesterday I picked up this cute tray/basket. What a steal for $1 thought it would look perfect with magazines in it or on the table as it is now filled with some lovely flowers.
Then theres this gorgous old bevilled mirror - can just see this in my sons room as thought it was quite masculine with all that patina around the edges.

Happy Australia Day
Just could not resist blogging these beautiful images. We are all set for our beautiful Australia Day. Have the snags ready for the BBQ, the tarp going up for shelter from this harsh aussie sunshine. We have the backyard cricket ready to go, the beers on ice, our bikinis and thongs on and all ready for a swim in the pool. Nothing better than spending the day appreciating our great country. Have a good one Sandy x

For the love of Chenille
Some of my collection.
Images courtesy of other sources.
Chenille has been around for years and I would never pass up a beautiful bedspread on my thrifting travels I would make them into lovely cushion covers, raggy quilts and even slipcovers. They are very versatile and the best part is they wash and wear better over time. I would have to say that I have picked the best ones up in Victoria. I think the climate is more suited to them in colder states and I always seem to find one wherever I went. Can't say that now and many chenille bedspreads I have seen are well over the $200. I have kept mine for years and always seem to find a purpose for them. They are even great as throws over the couch.

A Friday Find
During all the running around today I did manage an op shop or two - as you do. A few weeks ago I was in an antique store and saw this amazing cruet set, as much as I loved it I refused to pay the high price tag. Then low and behold look what I found today in the op shop for an absolute bargain. It's almost identical to the one I previously saw. Just pays to wait and all good things will come. Oh the flowers were a nice find too some gladies in my own garden.
Some Friday Hamptons
With the kids back to school next week I am going to find myself running around today getting those last minute things. Yes I am one of those who has left it to the last minute. Oh well at least I can enjoy these images before heading out into the hot sun today.

Still love some colour

As much as I am enjoying decorating my new home in lots of neutrals its hard to take the flower out of the girl. I think I will always be a rose and pink girl and still have lots of rose paintings, floral doona covers and not to mention loads of shabby pieces. It's nice to be able to change things around and have either look. All you have to do is have the standard white couch and mix it all up by changing your cushions or lamps.

Monday Snaps
Thanks again for all your comments on my floors. I will be sure to keep you posted on their durability and if the paint lives up to my high expectations. For now here are a few quick snaps from around the house this morning. Today is going to be a high 34 degrees and good job my husband set up the above ground pool again yesterday as I spent most of the day just floating in it. Have a great week all. Sandy

Bedroom Floors Get Painted Too
Yes I did the bedroom yesterday as well.
Before
I was so pleased with the lounge rooms floors that I could not wait to get stuck into our bedroom, plus I have had no kids for a week so this has helped with doing these sort of projects. I used a concrete paint. This is an aqua tread paint with a superior hard wearing satin finish. Honestly its like walking on a piece of satin it feels that clean and soft. That's if you can imagine concrete feeling soft. It feels like when you just shave your legs and apply a lovely moisturiser. I guess only time will tell if this is going to be easy to maintain but for now it was a cheap alternative for a fantastic look and who really cares - I love the look and thats all that matters.Saturday, January 16, 2010
