A New Desk

Firstly I want to thankyou all for your lovely comments on my magazine spread. I think we all agree that out taste does change over the years and for me it seems to go in a ten year cycle.
Now I am having some fun at home today playing around with my newly finished desk. Here are some pics of her makeover and tomorrow I will show you some pictures of my new office space all set up.
With my daughter in high school the homework is full on to say the least. The lap top gets a thrashing and my small white desk was just not cutting it for space. So when I saw this beauty all pink and blue I knew there had to be nice pine under there somewhere.

Not only was there lovely pink paint but under the pink was green and under the green was white. I could have stained the top but I loved it just the way it was meant to be in all its naked glory. Now getting those layers off was a real challenge and after trying to sand it myself and then having to use paint stipper I decided to called in the big guns (my husband). He opted for some very course sandpaper on the belt sander and in about 15 minutes he had it all off –

Wow! Could I please just borrow your husband for a couple of days? I will feed him and he can sand 'til his heart's content! Love the little desk all stripped down. I had to laugh cuz everyone buys wood and then paints it…and you did the reverse! Can't wait to see everything done! Diana

Thats a gorgeous desk and what you did to it is amazing!!
    I love it!!!
I've been painting all day…I've got about 5 different things on the go..well 6 actually.
I found a piece of furniture thats been in the house that I hadnt even given a second look at until today and it hit me like a ton of bricks…This will be our new little coffee table in our white living room..so out came the paintbrush..even though I had already been painting 3 other things today! lol
You've got me hooked…and my eye is keen to "the possiblities of white" and shabby….
Thanks again so much for your kindness and all your inspiring re-dos.
    You are amazing Sandy! 🙂

Fantastic Sandy! What a big sanding job. I would have given up and flicked it on. Just as well you called on hubby to lend a hand. It's come up a treat.

Oh Wow! I consider myself someone who can see the potential in most stuff but I have to say that I would have missed seeing it in this one! Way to go. It looks amazing. Nothing like some husband and wife teamwork! J. in USA

You are brave for tackling that. So much coloured paint to remove! You persevered and it looks great. Have a great weekend! 😉

I can't imagine how you were ever able to see past all that color. Poor baby, don't you know it was just so ashamed, and was crying out to be rejuvinated. You did a great job getting it back to such a pretty piece. It can hold it's head high now. I know you'll enjoy it.
