Completed TV Cabinet

Well I think everyone agreed that the family TV is very hard to hide and very hard to display nicely.  Unless you have a gorgeous armoire that you can tuck it away in.
My husband bought this cabinet a few years ago and it was really the only piece in the house that was left to paint. I hope you all agree that it looks so much nicer and fits in with everything now that its white.

We took out the glass and I made some gorgeous linen curtains and hung them inside with some elastic curtain wire.  All those DVD's and videos are all out of sight now which is a lot tidier and pleasing to the eye.

I painted all the shelves inside white and used a small roller for the hard to get places. I left the top timber as thought this gave it a nice country feel.

Added some lovely crystal knobs and it was all done today. I am so pleased and yes I do wish I had done it sooner.

Before
Yep painted it inside, was way too big to take outside and my husband didn't want to dismantle all the electrical so I painted it during the week and an hour or two at night.

Looks great now Sandy and I like the top left like that. If you evere get sick of the top like that you can always paint it anyway

I like the new look much better. I like how you left the top natural, the contrast against the white really looks nice.

Exactly what I needed to see as I have a almost identical cabinet that needs the white treatment! Looks lovely Sandy. I plan on leaving the top of mine timber also.
Have a great weekend!

Looks great Sandy! I love the wood look on top for a nice contrast! The little curtains was a good idea to hide the inside. It's the perfect thing to set your big screen tv on!~Hugs, Patti

It looks so much better than the before. And I like the contrast between the wood top and white bottom. You are a brave soul to paint inside your house - and no spills!!

The TV cabinet looks great. My husband is infatuated with electronics. All the wires, speakers and HUGE TV's makes me crazy. I would love to just hide them away!

Well done Sandy, it looks lovely. Had to laugh at that photo of you painting it in its usual spot, with the stereo and tv still in their places...I'd manage to splatter paint all over those if I tried that! Our lounge tv cabinet is very similar to yours and I'd LOVE to paint it...suppose I'd better get rid of that ever-growing pile in my garage first though!

Well done Sandy! I'm currently on the lookout for an old tv cabinet to fix up (much prefered to buying a new chipboard/laminate thing) so thanks for the inspiration!

WOW!!! Sandy!!! It looks fabulous!!! I love the linen curtain idea. You won't believe it, but I have just come inside from doing a very similar revamp to our TV cabinet!!! Just now I have stripped the top and am waiting a bit for the chemical to dry. Then I will be sanding and staining the top "English Chestnut". Over the next few days the weather is supposed to be great so I will put three or four coats of satin urethane to seal it. The base had been crackled and was done very poorly, so I plan to just sand it well and paint it creamy white. I got the idea a while ago when I was looking through a Laura Ashley catalogue and fell in love with the Bramley collection of furniture they have.
Once again, it looks fabulous!! Congrats! Laura
