Pine Desk Makeover

Well we are back from our break at the beach and doesn’t it always feel good to get away. My daughter loved all your comments on her photos – I agree I think she would make a great photographer.  Now its back home and up bight and early this morning to get stuck into a few pieces I had lying around.

I purchased this black kidney shaped pine desk/sideboard last week and just loved it when I saw it. Then I got it home and thought what am I going to do with it. My husband removed the side panels so it could be used as a bookshelf underneath. I wanted it to look really rustic and did not want to stain the top. So I just gave it the once over with the belt sander and applied a danish oil on top to give it a light beachy feel.

My roses are all blooming again, can’t wait for the next few days when they all open up.
The black was not happening and either was the blue underneath.

Some holiday thrift finds. Silver candle holders and some chandelier shades.
A good belt sander does take the pain out of constant hours of sanding. I have used this Makita sander and it gets the job done in no time at all.

This transformation is amazing as usual Sandy. I would not even think to buy a piece like this as it looks like too much work! Roses are stunning and I want that sander 🙂

That's a great sander Sandy. (Did that sound funny to you too?) Might have to make an investment in one myself.
Your table looks fantastic and definitely has a beachy look to it.

Hi Sandy…..I love the curved top on that table…very different! I just got a new SKIL sander. I have not used it yet. I have a petite size coffee table that I have plans for painting. It has some bubbles on it that I hope can be sanded out! Looks good!~Hugs, Patti

Really nice job on your desk/sideboard! I like the top of it a lot the way you jsut sanded and oiled it. It looks so nice with your striped cabana pillows in the background. I also love you silver candlesticks and shades! Are those going in your shop to sell? Lovely!
