Mixing Old With New

Firstly just wanted to say thankyou to Katherine over at theoldboathouse.blogspot.com I was the lucky winner of her giveaway and this has just topped off my week. Also a big thankyou to Samantha at thenestuk.blogspot.com for nominating me with a beautiful blogger award how lovely it is to receive these awards. I am home today which is going to be great as have some projects to finish off and some projects that I need to make a start on. Wanted to show you this cabinet I picked up through the week. It’s modern I know but love mixing modern pieces with vintage ones and this was just so practical. Not sure if its a keeper yet but I can imagine it in the bathroom filled with goodies or even displayed just how it is in the lounge area.

Love Vintage marcella bedspreads I picked this one up at the op shop this week of all places. They are hard to find and this one is in perfect condition. May get cut up and used for cushions yet but I do find it hard to cut them when they are in such good condition.

I know how you feel, I have cut up a few, and it is tough, I feel guilty!
But if you have plans for it, that could improve the look, and might get used, then just go for it, I wont tell anybody!

Like the cupboard. Doesn't the silver look good against the white?

    Hi Sandy,
I'm more on the old rather than the new but I like to mix old and new too and your silver in the modern cabinet looks fab.
Love your vintage marcella bedspread. I'd hate to cut it up but if it is for a good cause – gorgeous cushions – then go for it. you'll be happy afterwards.

Sandy love the look of the new cabinet. Ooh how hard it will be to cut up the quilt when it's in such great shape. Always easier if it's stained or damaged beyond repair.
    Have a lovely weekend

OMG Sandy, I have been trying to remember the name of those bedspreads all day, got one this morning, but it is stained so don't know how it will clean up…even asked my Mum but she couldn't remember the name either…so frustrating when you can't remember basic things…anyway yours is so lovely. They have such a lovely weight. Love your shelf unit..I think adding the silver goodies to match the handle, really ties in the old and new very well…you are very clever, have a lovely weekend..what treasures are out there waiting for you!!
