Gold Coast Australia - My name is Sandy and I have a passion for upcycling old furniture. I am a collector a treasure hunter and see the beauty in what pieces can be rather than what they currently are. I love beautiful things shabby, rustic, beachy, french and anything that is recycled. I hardly ever buy new and with some paint and imagination I transform time worn pieces. You can check out my furniture at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre in Brisbane. Drop me a comment I would love to hear from you.
I have never been one to decorate with black but I am finding more & more pieces sneaking into my home. Will they stay that colour I am not sure but for now I am quite liking it.
Black is like yellow! When you decorate a room or paint a painting just the smallest dab of yellow (or black) lift it out of the ordinary into the extraordinary!
Sandy..Im am liking the small splashes of it in your home...adds a new dimension to a room and I love the little pieces you have collected so far...I say....let black stay ;)
I feel the same about black, I have never really bonded with it in my home, yet I see it in little places here and there without realising I have placed it there. Like a black & coloured granny square blanket I draped over the couch.
They say a touch of black helps ground a room, it looks pretty I especially like the holder on the wall and the tiered basketon your table (; Hugs~Kelly
I think those little hints of black in your home look so lovely Sandy! They match so nicely with your other beautiful furnishings. I'm with Anna when she says 'let black stay':) Have a great day Sandy ~ Tina x
Ainsley Pavey featured Paint Me White in the Courier Mail on Saturday 7th May. The Top 5 Latest Interior Design Styles. I was interviewed about my shabby chic painting style and where it was headed and how this style of decorating has stood the test of time.

The black gives it a wonderful old European feel to the decor I think. Just enough!
Love it :) Irene.
Sandy, you are right, a bit of black is OK, even in our white world.

I like it as it's a rustic black and not too shiny. It goes really well with the rest of your design!
I think a little black makes a room "pop". Your home is really quite lovely! You definitely have an eye for beautiful things..Marcia
I have heard that a little black in each room makes the rooms flow into each other. Looks great!~Patti

Hello sandy. I love small splashes of black mixed with the shabby look, especially scrolly metal with the shabby look.
Your new place is coming along quickly and beautifully.
