Getting There

Well another huge weekend of painting and I could not wait to share with you these photos I took of the dining room and TV room beyond that. What a difference the space is now light and fresh and ready for some chandeliers and white furniture of course. For now I am leaving the timber blinds in the far room until I find something else. Thought this gap between the two rooms would look great with some white plantation shutters, think Katrina Chambers has some in her office and it looks unreal.

These are my kitchen cupboards laying on the floor. I removed all the cupboard and have almost finished them with just one more coat to go and then I can show you. Cannot wait to hang them back up and see the final look.

Painting Your Existing Kitchen

Before
This is not my kitchen but hoping to achieve a look similiar to this one. If you like the layout of your existing kitchen then why pay thousands of dollars for a new one when a coat of paint can make all the difference. I have done my research and will attempt to paint our kitchen or at least make a start on it this weekend. Now my kitchen is laminate and the existing laminate is starting to come off. So I am going to remove all the laminate - well thats the plan anyway. Wish me luck and I will make sure that I take plenty of pictures and will let you know the products I am using if successful.

White Friday

Cannot believe how quick these weeks are flying by. I have tomorrow off so will be spending the day running around looking at carpet samples and picking up some more white paint. I have said it over and over again that decorating with white is just so calming and pleasing to the eye. I just love love love it. Have a great weekend I know I will.

Curtain Call

Your all right painting is the hardest but most rewarding job and lets just say that I have muscles aching that I never knew existed. Undercoat all done and now the fun begins with the top coat.

Next decision is window coverings and thats no easy task. I have four windows that need to be covered. Have done away with the old timber venetian blinds and now my thoughts are on lovely linen curtains. This is the room which the fire place and reverse cylce airconditioner are in so really do need something maybe with blockout that can keep the room cool in summer and let the winter sun in during the colder months. I have just had lovely linen cushions made for my couches so thinking matching linen curtains would look beautiful - what do you think.

House Painting

Morning all - well the fun began yesterday painting the new house. Not an easy job in 35 degree heat in a house where the power had been disconnected so no aircon or fans. Never mind we are lucky to be given this opportunity to have early access so we are making the most of it. As you can see the walls are dark, multi-coloured blues and browns not to mention the matching awful blue carpet. We plan to paint the whole house white of course and I also started removing all the timber venetians blinds which where right through the house. Have some lovely curtains in store for this large room.
The cutting in take literally hours.

The Packing Begins

Our new house doesn't settle for about 3 weeks but because the property is empty the lovely vendor has been kind enough to give us early access. So we are busy packing and hoping to start painting over the weekend. This is going to make things a lot easier as we can do quite a few trips with lots of the small and breakable stuff in the meantime. Oh its all sinking in now best get back to it.

Summer Styling

I have been looking at lots of inspiration images these last few weeks imagining how the new house is going to be decorated. I am loving the neutral upholstery teamed with lots of white and combining modern & vintage. I have some pieces that have been stored in the shed that have been waiting for a new home. Cannot wait to see them all under the one roof and not having to move again for many years to come.

Rare Find Part II

Well turned out the horse had been missing for some 24 hours and was wondering along the roadside before it came to my house. Two local cowboys came around on their horses last night and said they had found the paddock to where he belonged. Apparently the owner is overseas and had left the horse with a local business lady to feed. Obviously the fencing must of been inadequate which is worrying as this horse would have been worth a penny or two. Oh well the kids got their thrills for a few hours and its safely home where it belongs I hope.

A Rare Weekend Find

This is a weekend find that I am sure I will never come across again. A beautiful black thoroughbred landed in my front yard at 8.30am this morning and lucky for us we had a fenced paddock to keep this beauty in. No-one has come looking for him and my daughter is convinced all her dreams have come true.

Fabric & Chair Obsession

Are you like me and day dream about your next furniture or household project.. I just adore these chairs with their Laura Ahsley and Warwick design fabrics. Makes me want to go out and have a new chair or couch upholstered in these gorgeous colours. Have a wonderful weekend mine will be busy with dropping the kids off at Wet N Wild Water Park, then I am hoping to pick up some new cushions that I have arranged to be made. I am also thinking about doing a car boot sale on the weekend as I have a few things I would like to clean out before the move. Have a good one. Sandy x

A Spot For My Desk For Now Anyway

Well I did find a spot for that cute desk although it wont be here for long as the joys of packing will soon begin.
This house we have purchased is a brick & tile home. After owning and renting a timber home I have realised the upkeep & maintenance required so we have opted for something which does not require constant attention. Good news is the property does have a large shed, plenty of water tanks for the garden and is on over 3000 square metres of land. Lots of painting to be done and I cannot wait to work my magic on this place.

What A find

How about this for a find ladies. Could not believe my eyes when I saw this treasure. It is massive and who cares if its old or not it looks beachy and unreal. Was going to keep this in the shed until we moved but could not resist putting it in this house and taking some snaps for you all. Looks amazing as a coffee table or will look beautiful in a bedroom full of beautiful linens. Oh the things that we find hay?

White Monday Market Finds

Gorgeous metal lamp base teamed with a plain linen market shade.
Sweet old 3 tiered metal basket stand: has a handle at the top and would be ideal for the bathroom or the kitchen.
Hope you all had a good weekend. I was having market withdrawals after not going for the last few weeks so I set out early Sunday morning and the day did not disappoint as you can see.

Wall shadow box - I have saved the best until last and will show you that tomorrow.
The heavens have opened these last 24 hours and I am pleased to say our tanks are full.
