Pieces that have come and gone

Just posting some pictures of some pieces that have passed through my hands at some point.
I am having withdrawals as I have not picked up a paint brush for about a month now. Sometimes its good to have a break and then get back into it. I am dying to go treasure hunting this week.

Great Weekend

We are back from a great weekend away although our houshold is very quiet as the kids decided to stay up at mum and dads for the next week. I will be working and with mum and dad living so close to the beach what kid would not pass this offer up. My 12 year old daughter has decided over the weekend that she is going to be a photographer so this is some of her work. Love the chippy old shed.

In reply to the comment regarding lamp shades that go over your light bulbs. I do have some small shades that I would be happy to custom make for you or anyone for that matter.

Lamp Addiction Part 2

Up until very recently I had collected lamps bases & shades of all shapes and sizes. If I ever saw them at markets I would always grab them as I knew one day they would be hard to find. Seems that I was right. I have sold most of these now and have just kept a few for my personal collection but I do find it hard to resist a nice base & shade. Mind you I do tend to find the odd lamp here and there that I had forgot about.

Lamp Making Thankyou

Thanks blogging friends for all the lovely comments on my lamps. I must get my act together soon and give a lamp making lesson on-line. Hope all you Aussie girls are enjoying the school holidays and my lovely overseas followers we are having severe hot weather here in Queensland at the moment. Would welcome some much needed rainfall. We will actually have to start buying water from next week. We have two large water tanks one is empty and the other not much at all. Showers are kept to minimal time and washing the car is definetly out of the question.

Vintage Lamps

Hope your all having a lovely weekend. I was going through some old photos today and found some of these lamps that I had re-covered. Like everything I guess you get better at something the more you do it. Getting the tension right is probably the hardest thing but I do love seeing the completed lamp. I think at one stage my mother counted about 35 lamps just in my down stairs area. Have sold many off buts still have boxes and boxes of shades that I will get to one day.

Turquoise "Loving It"

Thank-you for all your wonderful suggestions for my dining chairs. Think I have settled on a lovely duck egg blue or will try and find a nice natural linen. Just have to go hunting for the fabric now.

Ideas Appreciated

Morning bloggers. I posted about this dining suite I picked up a few months ago and can you believe I haven't painted it yet. I am really stuck on a suitable fabric to re-upholster the chairs with. One minute I go for a duck egg blue and then I love the plain linen look and then I see Anna Spiro's blog and all this colour I am really stuck at the moment. The white frilly chair covers are great because they go straight in the wash and come up like new so I need a fabric that is not too light in colour as the kids sit as this table every day. Appreciate your ideas and thoughts.

Regretful Sales

Over all the years I have bought and sold furniture I look back at my old photos and these would have to be regretful sales. Your probably all thinking how silly I was but at the time I was a pink girl and nothing neutral was going to be in my home. Now that I am into this colour scheme I could have easily worked these pieces into my home right now. However someone out there is enjoying these right now (can I have them back). This week I bought a new doona cover, I have quite a few unopened packets that are all floral but I actually bought a lovely taupe colour with a gorgeous ruffle on it. I am loving this new colour in my home.

Robert Gordon Pottery

I had the pleasure of going to the Robert Gordon Pottery factory at Pakenham. For thos lucky girls in Victoria that live nearby this outlet - I just don't know how you can keep away from this place. Robert Gordon is an all-Australian company that produces beautiful handmade ceramics. They are now importing divine homewares in gorgeous french accents. It was very hard to go home empty handed here. They have classes where you can design your own master piece or get lost in the bargain basement where many items are as low as $2.

Aunties Place

Recently my mum's sister has just completed her renovation. I could not believe my eyes she has done a wonderful job of making her home all shabby and every item you see is a vintage find. She works in the op shop so has the perfect opportunity to pick things up.
